Mishna has many names: Greath, Mishna, Sereket.

Her primary focus is on healing, and ensuring the well-being of all under her care. From Mishna's perspective, that's all living things.

Mishna is often depicted as a woman, but she does have a male persona as well. They are both old, with silver-blue hair.

Healing has a long connection with water, and Mishna is considered in some places as a Goddess of water, and the cleansing properties thereof.

Her symbol is often a mouse, or rarely, a fish.

Cicles of Power

The primary circle of Mishna is of course HEALING. Secondary Circles are Water and Light.

Clerics of Mishna cannot take circles of Fire, or Darkness.

Clerics of Mishna

The clerics of Mishna opt for the simple life. They prefer a diet of vegetables and water. While they will eat meat in extreme circumstances, it is believed that it hinders their connection with their Goddess, and makes them less effective.

The clerics tend to dress simply, with an under robe of homespun grey, tied at the waist, with an over robe of blue or brown. The different colours do not donate rank, rather the smallest of personal preferences.

Creation Myths

The Tiger and the Mouse

One day the tiger was walking through the woods, when he came across mouse. Mouse was busy hitting a bush with a stick made of metal.

"What are you doing mouse?" asked Tiger. "I am angry, because I am so small. I cannot defend myself, so I am hurting things that cannot fight back" said Mouse. The Tiger contemplated this for a moment, and decided that it was not good that Mouse should be so angry. "You should not do that Mouse. Your size is not what makes you who you are. Give me that metal stick, and think no more of it." Mouse regarded Tiger for a moment, then said "I will only give you the metal stick if you promise not to hurt me with it." "I will not hit you with it Mouse, because I love you", and Tiger took the metal stick.

On another day, Tiger was walking through the woods, and came across Mouse. Mouse was wearing a metal vest, and standing at the bottom of a small mud slide, bracing themselves as the stones hit the metal plate. "What are you doing Mouse?" asked Tiger. "I am sad, because I am so small. I cannot defend myself, so I am numbing myself from all the pain that people throw at me." The Tiger contemplated this for a moment, and decided that it was not good that Mouse should be so sad. "You should not do that Mouse. Your size is not what makes you who you are. Give me that metal vest and think no more of it" Mouse regarded Tiger for a moment, then said "I will only give you the metal vest if you promise that you will not hurt me" "I will not hurt you Mouse, because I love you", and Tiger took the metal vest.

On another day, Tiger was walking through the woods, and came across Mouse. Mouse was wearing a metal hat and was hitting his head on a rock. "What are you doing Mouse?" asked Tiger. "I am distressed, because I am so small. I cannot defend myself, so I am making sure that I am not afraid of anything. The Tiger contemplated this for a moment, and decided that it was not good that Mouse should be so distressed. "You should not do that Mouse. Your size is not what makes you who you are. Give me that metal hat, and think no more of it". Mouse regarded Tiger for a moment, then said "I will only give you the metal hat if you promise that you will not hurt me with it." "I will not hurt you Mouse, because I love you", and Tiger took the metal hat.

On another day, Tiger was walking through the woods, and came across Mouse. Mouse was sat all alone on a log, and was crying. Tears were running down it's fur, and it's little body was shaking so much as she sobbed. "What are you doing Mouse?" asked Tiger. "I am so very lonely, because I am so small. No will want to be friends with me. I am not big, and strong, and brave." "You should not be sad Mouse, your size is not what makes you who you are. I will be your friend." "You cannot be my friend" said Mouse. "I can do nothing for you, and friends should be able to things for you" "You do not need to do anything for me, Mouse, because I love you". Tiger looked at Mouse, but Mouse just turned away.

Tiger thought about this long and hard. He put on the metal vest, and the metal hat. He picked up the metal stick and went deeper into the woods. Deep in the woods, he found another mouse, and hit it with his stick. He carried the mouse back to Mouse, and laid it at the foot of the log. "I have brought you a friend" said Tiger. Mouse looked up at Tiger, but did not recognise him because he was dressed in the metal helmet. "I do not know you, mysterious stranger, but this cannot be my friend. They are very sick, the will die soon". Mouse turned away and continued to sob.

Tiger didn't know what to do, so he reached into his heart, and pulled out as much compassion as he could, and he poured it onto Mouse. As the Tiger's compassion filled Mouse, Mouse looked at the injured mouse in front of her, and with her new compassion, reached out and healed it. The mouse ran away, and Mouse watched it go. Tiger looked at Mouse, and Mouse was happy.

Tears were running down her ur, and it's little body was shaking so much as she sobbed. "What are you doing Mouse?" asked Tiger. "I am so very lonely, because I am so small. Tiger looked at Mouse, but Mouse just turned away.

Tiger knew what to do this time, and went into the woods, and found a bigger animal to be Mouse' friend. He put on the metal vest, and the metal hat. He picked up the metal stick and went deeper into the woods. Deep in the woods, he found a bigger animal, and hit it with his stick. They are very sick, the will die soon. But I will make them better". Mouse used her compassion to make the bigger animal better.

And so, day by day, the Tiger found Mouse friends, and Mouse made them better and they ran away. Tiger tried so very hard to make Mouse friends, that he eventually forgot who he was. He knew only how to hurt people and bring them to Mouse. He eventually forgot even that he should bring them to Mouse, only that he loved deeply, and had to keep doing what he was doing for that love.

Eventually, Mouse noticed that the mysterious stranger had stopped coming, and pondered what had happened to them. Mouse set off in search of them. Along the way, they healed many creatures that told her of a Mysterious Stranger who had hurt them, and told them that someone would come and make them better. Mouse followed this trail of destruction, until Mouse found the Mysterious Stranger. They were tired, and barely able to move. Mouse tried to use their compassion, but it made no difference. The Mysterious Stranger's heart was full. Mouse wepped, because there was nothing that she could do. She weped so much that it made a stream, and that stream became a river. From that river, Mouse was able to give water to the Mysterious Stranger [..]*.

And so it was that Mouse, heart filled with compassion, dedicated herself to the care of others.

  • Some scholars argue that this is not the end of the story, however what that ending is has been lost.
